... and Eating Out it is...
Well - it's here again. That's fateful time of the year. The time when I try to better myself through extreme suffering.
Lent started today.
I'm sure you have all been dying to know exactly how masochistic I am going to be to myself this year. And to be completely honest - I myself didn't know until last night.
I thought of all the usuals - TV, chocolate, sweets, meat. I even considered the gossip one again - since I now know that I can do it.
But that wouldn't be challenging enough.
So I thought hard about what I love. A convenience that I would really have to struggle without. And it came to me.
I eat out a great deal.
And I love it.
I usually go for lunch with my boss a couple times a week, Jason and I usually eat out or get take-out a few times a week - and I LOVE going out with my friends.
This is going to be hard.
So in the interests of making it very clear for myself - here are the rules:
1. No eating in an established commercial food serving location.
2. No purchasing "ready to eat" food from an established commercial food serving location.
3. No eating Jason's leftovers from an established commercial food serving location.
4. Meals will be prepared in a non-commercial kitchen.
5. I am allowed to eat at other people's homes as long as they prepared the food themselves (does not have to be from scratch - but cannot be "ready to eat" food from an established commercial food serving location).
I am still trying to determine if drinking in an established food serving location would go against the spirit of the season. Thoughts?

My take is that the drinks should be out as well. Just a thought.
You are forever my hero

Drinking at an a restaurant is not considered eating out. I would suggest that you shouldn't the accompanying garnish (i.e. pickled asparagus/celery) but the drinking is fine since it isn't food.

I'm with Chester. Drinking out and eating out are separate.
Think of all the money you'll save! Jesus would be extra proud if you donated the proceeds to a worthy cause.
I'd say 'good luck' but that sounds more like test of willpower. So.. good willpower.

Maybe it's just me, but when I go out for drinks my bill end up just about the same as if I had gone out for supper. If it fast isn't financially motivated and maybe dietary, we all know about the carbs in beer and I just learned that drinking a beer actually makes your body stop burning fat all together and it starts to store. Guess where those wings are going!
Have a nice water, that's what I say.
