The Long Weekend

Highlights (in no particular order):
  1. Ran 12 km.
  2. Bought lovely new running gear including new shoes, cold weather gloves & hoodie and finally a wonderful Lululemon bag to tote all the gear in.

Lowlights (in order of occurrence):

  1. Jimmy's battery died (it was parked on the street).
  2. Found driver's side window of Ranger smashed (it was parked in heated underground parkade) and garage door opener stolen from inside.
  3. Noticed that Motorbike was stolen (it was also parked in heated underground parkade).
  4. Called building manager - no answer.
  5. Called Building 24 hour Emergency number - told to call back on Tuesday morning - as no one was available to deal with request.
  6. Called police - made report - then waited 6 hours for officer to show up.
  7. Officer was under impression that we had "tools" for him. Showed him discarded tools used in theft. Officer picked them up and discarded them in trash.
  8. Called insurance. Comprehensive on all vehicles - except bike. Will call back Tuesday morning.
  9. Building manager called - is in Kelowna. The on-call manager suppose to arrive to help us on Saturday afternoon. Never showed.

It sounds like your weekend was full of one thing: Assholes.
Except that wonderful guy that came and boosted the Jimmy.
My parents said the same thing about the insurance on the bike, it should be covered under your tenants insurance.

I can relate. My car was broken into in my underground parking. They took the faceplate from my cheap $100 stereo, but not the stereo. Brilliant. Luckily no damage to the car from them attempting to get in, because 'we' (and by that I mean Nick) left the door unlocked.

I got a phone call at 1:15 am from a police officer on the home phone, which is not listed under my name. Was creeped out a little, until I went downstairs and say 2 strapping young cops. Hello. They had looked up my info from licence plate and phoned my Mom, who gave them my phone number. The were so good looking I couldn't even be mad about the car. I stayed up till 3 am dreaming about cute cops. I didn't call the insurance, as not enough damage was done.

To top it off I had to get up the next morning and drive to Lethbridge for a job interview. Wonderful. People suck.

AND a couple months earlier the front wheel of my bike was stolen from the same 'secure' underground parking.
